As you have likely seen in the news, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) confirmed the health risks of acetaminophen last week. Stories have appeared in a number of prominent media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press (AP), Reuters, and ABC, all of which document research that shows acetaminophen is the leading cause of liver failure in the US. While the numbers aren't completely clear, a briefing memo by the FDA cited one study that suggested acetaminophen overdoses were associated with 56,000 emergency room visits, 26,000 hospitalizations, and 458 deaths per year in the U.S. during the 1990s....
